I love making charcuterie boards so much! It is such a great way to use my creativity and to impress your guests when hosting. I have five key tips and tricks to making the perfect charcuterie board even when you are in a hurry or have limited items.
Trick #1: Use Parchment Paper This is the key to having an easy clean up and protecting your board.
Trick #2: Anchor Your Board with Your Cheeses This should always be the first thing that you put on your board. I also recommend cutting your cheeses before placing them on the board. My go to cheese varieties are Goat, Gouda, Manchego and Parmesan. Another fan favorite available at Trader Joe’s is Unexpected Cheddar, delish.
Trick #3: Use a Cured Meat Trio Make it easy on yourself and get the pre packaged cured meat trio available at grocery stores. It usually has prosciutto and salamis which are perfect elements for your board. For the salami, I just fold the rounds into quarters and make a channel throughout the board.
Trick #4: Buy Small Jars or Buckets These buckets or tiny jars are such a fun element! You can buy them here or here for very cheap and they are perfect to hold olives, jams, mustard or anything really.
Trick #5: No Holes Allowed The most important trick is to fill, fill, fill. You should not be able to see any holes in the board. Some of the best items to fill the holes with are almonds, berries, chocolate and dried fruit.
If you are like me and love a little inspiration, I just found this awesome book with a bunch of cheese board ideas and here are some of the items that I use to make my boards. These would all be great gift ideas as well!
