Before we went on our honeymoon to Charleston, we received so many amazing recommendations. Where to stay, what to see and especially what to eat. Charleston is such a charming, historical city full of opportunities to explore and adventure. It was the perfect spot that was not too far from Florida and a city that Ryan and I had not been to together.
Where to Stay: We ended up staying at Hotel Bennett on King Street which was highly recommended by friends of ours. The location was great and we were able to walk mostly everywhere through out our trip. We loved the southern hospitality and attention to detail during our stay. Other hotels that came highly recommended were The Dewberry, The Restoration and French Quarter Inn.
What to See: Since we stayed on King Street, we walked up and down through out our trip and there are so many great restaurants, shops and bars at every corner. A few other must see sights that we saw when we were there was Battery Park, the Pineapple fountain and the market. A popular suggestion that we got from a lot of people was to go to Sullivan’s Island but we did not have a car and never made it over there.
Where to Eat: The Charleston food scene is no joke. We received a list of probably 50 restaurants that we should go to during our trip. The one that stood out the most to us was 167 Raw. This is an absolute must when visiting Charleston. They do not take reservations so make sure to go early to get a spot and avoid a long wait. Other spots that we loved were The Darling Oyster Bar, Indaco, Leon’s and Little Jack’s Tavern.
Where to Drink: Not only did we eat our way through Charleston, we also indulged in a few too many happy hours and late night drinks. 5Church, Blind Tiger and Uptown Social were all amazing for happy hour. It seemed we always ended up at Prohibition for an after dinner cocktail.
Charleston was definitely a perfect honeymoon destination for us and we can’t wait to make another trip!
